New World Order

The New World Order. It’s a phrase we’ve heard in political speeches, protests, and conversations about global conspiracies. It’s the promise of a league of nations working together for a common goal, and the threat of increased control over our everyday lives. So, what is the New World Order?

The phrase can be traced back to speeches by American presidents dating back to WWI. More recently, the end of the Cold War brought about a new meaning to the term, meant to imply that the world was no longer either pro- or anti-communism, and there was to be a literal new order to the world hierarchy. It has come to evoke feelings of great changes spreading around the world, and a heightened awareness of societies acting together to maintain peace on the planet. In fact, Time magazine’s cover from December 1989 shows U.S. and Russian leaders smiling together, with the headline, “Building a New World.”

However, a New World Order was quickly transformed into a type of catchphrase meant to encompass a renewed strength in combating those seen as enemies of freedom and democracy, and an increased dedication to maintaining order whenever a group considered “rogue” stepped out of line.

In the last eight years or so, many people and organizations have become keenly aware that the quest for a New World Order has meant a distinct lack of personal freedom; increased surveillance of all activities through CCTV in public areas, the U.S. Patriot Act, postal and electronic monitoring; and multinational conglomerates quickly on their way to becoming monopolies and crushing any sense of free trade. The United States and the Great Britain have acted in many sectors without consensus from the rest of the global community, and individuals and organizations have become extremely wary of being “in the system” or “on the grid,” where it is becoming increasingly easy to be tracked via a variety of activity that becomes part of the public record.

Technology has played a crucial part in both the ways that people are able to be watched, and how information regarding the twisting of the New World Order’s original intent has been accepted by those less in the know. To name a few:

  • Closed circuit television recording devices are able to record activity, and be relayed across the Internet in real time or by specific time frames
  • Internet censorship, search filters, key word flags and flagged site for which IP addresses are recorded
  • Keystroke tracking devices that record and report via remote every word types on a computer keyboard
  • Email interception, IM keyword flags, phone taps
  • Electronic paper trails accumulated through ATM cards, Internet purchases, credit card use, electronic highway toll cards, public transportation multi-use cards and access codes and cards

And this is just for individuals who go about living their daily lives. Companies - and the bigger the company, the worse it is - are under even more scrutiny. Seemingly arbitrary compliance regulations allow unfettered access to even the most private and protected facilities and areas of any company. In the interest of “fiscal transparency,” there is no more privacy left in corporate life.

And again, the bigger companies are the ones who are hit hardest when it comes to paying for all of this through double taxation, penalties, fines, fees, expenses, licenses and registrations. But increasingly, smaller businesses have become cash cows for New World Order coffers.

Which brings us to taxes. As individuals and businesses have become more aware of where their tax dollars go, so too has dissatisfaction with the New World Order has risen exponentially. Within the confines of “ordered” society, there is no way to rebel - except to perhaps write a letter to one’s governmental representative, which never gets read since it lands in the inbox of the very people who benefit most from the New World Order.

These dissatisfied individuals have started to look for another way out. They want their hard-earned money to mean something, and they simply want to be left alone to conduct perfectly legitimate businesses the way only they know best to operate. They are tired of being crushed by government oppression, and they are sick of constantly having to jump through bureaucratic hoops just to stay in the game.
